Dear friend,
If we look around and check, seldom can we find someone without the experience of suffering. Each of us experiences some level of impairment in our life. It may present in different forms: physical challenges, emotional trauma, learning disabilities, or spiritual struggles. The universal truth is that life is suffering! Then what?
It seems our life task is to discover how we can deal with these “sufferings”, the gifts presented to us by life whether we like it or not.
Let us ponder these “gifts” for a while… and ask:
Could we take each encounter of suffering as an opportunity to know life?
As a chance to reach in, and define, or redefine who we are?
As a chance to cultivate our sensibilities, strengths and wisdom?
Or as a chance to reach out, connect with others, and divine sources?
It is an outward and inward journey. In order to walk the outward journey courageously, we have to experience the inner journey and slay the “dragon” – our fears and the emotional blocks within.
Fortunately, this journey has been walked by many heroes before us, so we do not have to walk in the dark, and we do not have to walk alone.
Find your fellow travelers, who can walk the journey with you: discovering and, identifying visible or invisible “dragons”, laying out the path, finding the resources that can assist you to slay the dragon, overcoming obstacles, and walk toward the goal of emotional freedom.
Life is a pilgrimage, upward paddling. It is hard, but we are willing to make the journey and feel enriched by it.
