Experience the Prillo touch

Quality, price, choice and service key for locally-owned furniture business. While a lot has changed in Montreal since brother Mitch and Keith Prillo opened their first store – a small antique furniture shop on Gouin Boulevard in 1974 – the main values at the core of their business have not.

Today, with five Prillo Furniture locations in the Greater Montreal area, including their three-storey, 37,000 square foot showroom in Ste. Genevieve, the Prillos still know how to be a customer favourite. “We’re trying harder to give the best quality, price, choice and service,” Mitch Prillo recently said in an interview. “Those are our four cornerstones.”

In a market full of big box stores, Prillo Furniture is truly a Montreal rarity: it is still locally-owned and family-run.

“There’s a Prillo at each location,” said Mitch. “If there’s a problem, we know about it and we want to find a solution right away. Being at the location really makes the difference.” One thing is clear when you walk into a Prillo store: no matter what room in the house you’re looking to decorate or what budget you want to stick to, the Prillos will be able to help you find the furniture that is right for you. “We believe in having a big choice, and getting the best quality for your dollar. That was always our idea,” Mitch said.

Whether it’s the bedroom, dining room, living room, or home office, the Prillos can help you give just about any space that special touch. Their selection of colours and materials – including their vast leather gallery – is unbeatable. Prillo Furniture carries a wide assortment of elegant traditional and transitional-style furniture fit for any budget.

With over 35 years of experience in the business, the Prillos take their furniture very seriously. Always on the lookout for new, unique pieces, Prillo Furniture carries items you won’t find anywhere else. “We buy personally,” Mitch said. “We want to stay one step ahead of the competition, so we put a lot of work into finding good pieces for their value. We try not to carry anything that someone else has. Our pieces are going to have the Prillo touch.”
And, like it was from day one, the Prillos appreciate their customers and always make sure to give them top notch service, from sales floor to home delivery.

“We’re much less intimidating than some other places. Our salespeople are there for the customer, but aren’t pushy. We want our customers to take all the time they want, and they really appreciate that,” Mitch said.
The West Island community has also played an important role in the Prillos’ lives. Both Mitch and his brother Keith grew up and continue to live in the West Island, and the Prillos know the importance of giving back. Every year, collaborating with the Lester B. Pearson School Board, Prillo Furniture in Ste. Genevieve gives adult education students the opportunity to undertake a stage in the store and experience first-hand what it takes to get ahead.

“The students realize, if I want to get head in the world, I have to study,” Mitch said. “It’s been a great experience.” So, what’s the best way to experience the “Prillo touch?”
